This original artwork was inspired by trips to Barricane Beach in Woolacombe, Devon, every year. We often have BBQs on the beach as the sun is setting and the light of the sun hits the beach so strongly.

Painted initially in an impressionist style, I had lots of fun giving it more energy with dynamic mark making with different materials including cardboard, old credit cards and the ends of brushes.

I'm really happy with the end result and was completely absorbed in the process. I'm hoping the viewer will also bring their own connection with the artwork.
